Where to Eat in Pipa: Our Best Tips

Pipa has an incredible range of places to eat, at every price point — I’ll cover cafés, pizzerias, ice cream shops, and restaurants.

With the heat, stopping for ice cream is often a great idea, and there are plenty of options worth trying, each in its own way.

Breakfast spots in Pipa

Café e Padaria Central

Also known as the “Italian Bakery,” since the owner (and the bread) are Italian. Unlike other times we’ve passed by, it was pretty quiet since we got there early. It’s near Praia do Centro, close to the “Greek street.” Service was good. Average cost: R$40 for two, with a snack and juice.

Panificadora Canaã

Located past Praia do Amor, across from a market, and hands down has the best bread in the area, along with really tasty snacks — though the service is pretty bad. Staff sometimes forget orders or lose your ticket. Payment is upfront, before you eat, R$30 for two — if you love French-style bread, this is worth the visit!

Casa de Farinha

We wouldn’t recommend this one, despite the convenient downtown location. Service is poor, orders take a long time, and the food isn’t good. R$25 for two.

Café Chileno

We couldn’t find it on the map, but it’s on Rua Albacora. In short, the owner is Chilean and makes coffee with traditional Chilean breads. Nice atmosphere, though small, and as of New Year’s 2019-2020 it was still a pretty new spot. We’re not used to that style of bread or fillings, so it felt a little unfamiliar. R$30 for two.

Pizza in Pipa

Pit Stop Bar e Pizzaria

Located downtown, between Praia do Amor and Praia do Centro. Andrey had eaten here before, and after leaving a party one night, it’s where we ended up. Despite the poor service, the pizza is very cheap — made with a pre-made crust and toppings added on top. If you’re from São Paulo, you probably won’t love it, since it’s hard to find a really good pizza outside that region.

Bella Pizza

Also downtown. Very pleasant spot, decent service. It’s an all-you-can-eat pizza and pasta buffet, but you can also order à la carte if you prefer. The pizza is fairly greasy.

Ice cream shops in Pipa

Sorveteria Preciosa

In short, an excellent spot, great service, and ice cream in all kinds of interesting local fruit flavors — a must-stop. Worth every calorie! We tried jackfruit, among others. The best in the area. Hands down the best place for ice cream in Pipa.

Sorveteria Real de 14

Pleasant spot, with a good variety of local flavors. Not quite as creamy as some others, but still worth a visit.

Sorveteria na Chapa

We couldn’t find the exact location, but it’s between downtown and Praia do Amor. It’s more of a curiosity than a must-try. The owner blends your chosen flavor with milk right on an ice-cold plate, making the ice cream fresh in front of you, rolled up like a little wrap.

Que Gostoso Sorveteria

We’d rank this our second favorite — the ice cream is creamier, with more familiar flavor options. It also works differently: instead of ordering by scoop, you pay by weight, and you can add sprinkles and other toppings.

Restaurants in Pipa

Restaurante Jerimum — our favorite place to eat in Pipa

Self-service, home-style cooking, really tasty — and the best part is the owner, who’s incredibly friendly. We actually ended up eating lunch here three days in a row. It’s on the way to Praia do Amor, across from an açaí shop. R$15 per person.

El Farolito

A beautiful spot, pleasant, good service. We had burgers here, and they were excellent — from the bun down to the meat. We went for dinner and loved it. R$60 for two.

Where NOT to eat in Pipa

Restaurante Altas Horas

Self-service, but we wouldn’t recommend it — the owner wasn’t friendly, quoted us one price for juice, then tried to charge a different amount. R$16 per person.

Churrascaria Dona Branca

Also self-service. We wouldn’t recommend this one either — the meat quality was really poor. Nothing more really needs to be said. R$20 per person.
