Jiquitaia Restaurante Bar: A Michelin Bib Gourmand

Jiquitaia Restaurante Bar (Tripadvisor) is located in São Paulo’s Zona Sul (South Side), at Rua Coronel Oscar Porto, 808, serving Brazilian food.
The menu includes both vegan and vegetarian options, alongside delicious, simple dishes. In 2019, it earned significant recognition, receiving a Bib Gourmand distinction from the Michelin Guide.
The kitchen is led by chef Marcelo Corrêa Bastos, from Paraná, also known for running Restaurante Vista in São Paulo — so he’s currently juggling two excellent spots.
We came here for dinner with my cousins as a couple, and it was a genuinely pleasant evening.
The setting
Airy and beautiful, with a rustic feel — the straw chandeliers and framed photos of Indigenous peoples and Brazilian landscapes really stand out.
There are three separate dining areas, and since we had a reservation, we sat in the first room, though there’s another past the kitchen and one past the restrooms, all equally cozy.

Starter at Jiquitaia Restaurante Bar
We got a complimentary starter from the chef, a surprisingly delicious corn and shrimp soup — simply excellent.

We also ordered a torresmo off the menu, served with Dijon mustard and lime — genuinely meaty and juicy.

Main course at Jiquitaia Restaurante Bar
Since there were four of us, we ordered four different dishes, and every single one was delicious!!
Duck rice in tucupi sauce with rare-cooked magret — Andrey ordered this one and thought the duck tasted quite similar to beef; he genuinely loved how it was cooked.

Fraldinha steak with potato salad and egg farofa — this was my dish, and it was wonderful, especially the farofa, which I found really flavorful; the steak was rare, cooked exactly right.

Chorizo steak with potato salad and egg farofa — my cousin Gabriel ordered this one; the cut had a bit more fat and bone, but was equally tasty.

Parsnip gnocchi with a Reino cheese cream sauce, vegetables, and mushrooms — the sauce was mild and tasty, a great pick if you love pasta.

Dessert at Jiquitaia Restaurante Bar
We ordered three, each with a distinct, not-too-sweet flavor profile — our favorite, by our taste, was the brigadeiro.
Brigadeiro with sweet pé-de-moleque farofa — the pairing with the farofa is fantastic.

Cassava tart with pineapple syrup and milk ice cream — I genuinely loved this one, the tart tasted a lot like tapioca, and the ice cream was really good.

Chocolate mousse with cupuaçu syrup and Brazil nuts — I expected the mousse to be airier, but the cupuaçu cream and coconut were both tasty.

Price
R$230 per couple, including the starter, alcoholic drinks, a bottle of water, and everything listed above.
