What to Do in Positano

Positano is one of the most photographed towns on the Amalfi Coast — and for good reason. Its pastel-colored houses cascade down the cliffside toward the sea, creating a view that’s hard to forget.
Getting there
The easiest way to reach Positano is by ferry from Sorrento or Naples, especially in the summer months when coastal roads get crowded with tour buses.
What to do
- Walk down to Spiaggia Grande, the main beach, and grab a table at one of the waterfront restaurants.
- Explore the narrow stairways and alleys lined with ceramic and linen shops.
- Visit the Church of Santa Maria Assunta, easy to spot by its majolica-tiled dome.
- Hike part of the Path of the Gods (Sentiero degli Dei) for sweeping views over the coastline.
Tips
Positano gets very busy between June and August. If you can, visit in May, June, or September to enjoy the same views with fewer crowds.
